Persefone Letter to her mother Demeter

Mother, tell me you understand,

I can be myself!

Mother, I know you think you and I are one. In a sense, we are.

I was planted as a seed in your dark dome, and I grew and grew and grew…

For nine months, I flourished under your watchful care, knowing nothing but the rhythm of your heart.

But I am grown up now, another seed was offered to me.

This seed had brought an irresistible desire to explore and understand.

A seed as red as aged wine, which I accepted with deep curiosity.

A seed of love, a radiant seed, a fiery seed, an unknown seed, a seed of passion and pleasure.

Mother, tell me you understand that I can make my choice.

Mother, grant me this freedom without the fear that my choice might take your life.

I love you, Mother, but I love my King Hades too.

Mother, please grasp the depths of my words, for they echo the depth of my heart.
